Reclaimed Materials

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is a mantra we all know, but do we sometimes focus mostly on recycling, instead of thinking about reducing our consumption and reusing what we already have? This collection is full of fun, engaging artefacts all demonstrating principles of reusing and reclaiming. Bags made from reclaimed computer keyboards or woven from old video tape will give pupils inspiration to create their own sustainable ways of carrying their shopping. An apron made from tetra-packs and chickens made from drinks bottle labels demonstrate the versatility and durability of plastics, and toys made from reclaimed wire and tin demonstrate the similarities between children all over the world, finding and using waste materials to make objects to play with.
