This is a wide and diverse collection of puppets, from a range of styles, including marionettes, rod puppets, glove puppets, multi-person puppets and shadow puppets. Puppets are used all over the world to tell stories and entertain, and the techniques and designs are remarkably similar from culture to culture. You'll find Sanchar puppets here, made by a puppetry company in Northern India, who use papier mache as a protest against deforestation and the live wood used for traditional Kathputli puppets. There is a undecorated puppet head in the collection to show pupils how they are moulded, and how Fenugreek is used to prevent the papier mache from going mouldy in monsoon season.
